Manchester City continued their unerring march to a third Premier League title on Sunday with a potentially season-defining victory at Old Trafford.

Goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi helped Pep Guardiola’s side see off the challenge of nearest title rivals Manchester United to extend their lead at the top of the table to a daunting 11 points.

The victory was City’s 14th straight win, breaking the Premier League record, previously held by Arsenal, for the longest winning streak in a single season.
With the Manchester City juggernaut showing no sign of slowing down, what other Premier League records could they surpass if they carry on at this pace?
Winning points margin

No team in Premier League history has ever made as strong a start to a season as Pep Guardiola’s current crop.

Manchester City have picked up a total of 46 points from a possible 48. Their one failure to pick up all three points came all the way back in August in a 1-1 draw with Everton at the Etihad.

City are 1/25 to win the Premier League with some bookmakers and considering they have already beaten Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United once this season, it’s feasible Guardiola’s side could go on to win the title by a record margin.

Man City’s extraordinary lead over their title rivals is best illustrated by the fact that sixth-place Spurs, who came second last season, are mathematically closer to the bottom of the table than to the league leaders.

If they do want to go and set a new points-margin record, they will need to overtake Sir Alex Ferguson’s treble-winning Manchester United team, who won the 1999/2000 Premier League title by a massive 18 points.

Currently averaging 2.88 points per game, Manchester City will end up winning the Premier League by a mammoth 26 points.

Projected margin: 1st Man City (109 pts) 2nd Man Utd (83 pts)

Verdict: On target to smash it.
Most goals in a season

With a frontline boasting the likes of Sergio Aguero, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus it’s come as no surprise that Man City have made such short work of unpicking Premier League defences.

City have already racked up 48 goals in 16 games this season, 12 more than their nearest rivals Manchester United and as many as Chelsea and Everton have managed combined.

Despite their scintillating start, Pep Guardiola’s current crop are actually two goals shy of the club’s best ever goalscoring start to a Premier League season.

At the start of the 2012/13 season Roberto Mancini’s defending champions managed to bring up a half-century in the first half of the season.

Worryingly for Pep Guardiola, the Italian manager was sacked in May, less than a year after leading Man City to their maiden Premier League title.

The all-time Premier League record for goals scored in a single season is held by Chelsea’s title-winning team from the 2009/10 season.
Most wins in a single season

Pep Guardiola’s side have already claimed the record for the most Premier League wins after 16 games of the season, with Sunday’s 2-1 win over Man Utd their 15th victory.

If Man City are to break the record for the most number of wins in a single Premier League season they will need to surpass the mark set by Antonio Conte’s Chelsea last season. The Italian won the title in his debut season in England, romping to Chelsea’s second Premier League title in three years with a 13-match winning run that saw them amass 30 victories in total.

City’s derby win over Manchester United also equalled Arsenal’s record of 14 straight victories played across games spanning two seasons.

Guardiola’s side currently have an astounding win rate of 93.75 per cent in Premier League matches.

If we assume they can maintain this phenomenal success rate, Man City will end the 2017/18 season as champions having failed to win just TWO of their 38 Premier League games.

Projected number of wins: 35.75

Verdict: On course to set a ridiculous record.

A $400,000 NIGHT OUT

We have already mentioned that he performed many of his wrongdoings while he was playing for Manchester City, getting on the nerves of the team’s manager Roberto Mancini. This may come as a surprise having in mind that Mancini gave him a fresh opportunity after Balotelli’s not so praiseworthy behavior in Italy. However, he did not seem to be very thankful to the manager. One of his misadventures resulted in a $400,000 fine. This massive fine came because Balotelli breached the quarantine rule often present in football clubs. Basically, this means that players can’t go out the night before a game for numerous reasons including not getting drunk, hurt, or simply unprepared for the physical efforts awaiting them the next day. Well, not only did Mario go out, but he also went to a strip club at 2 am. $400,000 for a night out and I think it’s safe to assume that he would do it again.

However, for some Balotelli is a hero. A young boy approached him to ask for an autograph in 2010. He asked the boy why he wasn’t in school and the reason he got was that the boy was being bullied. Outraged, Balotelli went to school with the boy and we can only imagine what he said to the bully. He even had a few words with the headmaster about this. Here it is safe to assume that the boy was not bullied again.

Women like bad guys and rich ones as well. Well, Mario is both. Raffaella Fico was his supermodel girlfriend for a while and they had a troublesome relationship that even included threats of suing from both parties. Balotelli even asked for a paternity test to prove that Fico’s daughter Pia was really his daughter as Fico claimed. Well, the test came back positive. However, there is another reason why Raffaella Fico might be a bit cross with the striker. Another supermodel named Chloe Evans said she’d had an affair with Balotelli back in 2011. On one occasion they are said to have had sex while Raffaella was sleeping in the same house. This does make a woman a bit angry, doesn’t it?

Mario scored a great goal in the semifinals of the Euro 2012 against Germany. In fact, he liked it so much that the decided to have a full-sized statue of himself built in the exact pose that he took to celebrate the goal. First of all, have a look at the pose

and then imagine it in bronze and inside his own house. Yes, this might actually be a bit too much. The pose was trolled all over the internet.

Another feat with Mancini who must have cursed the day he chose to give Mario another chance. During a game in the US versus the LA Galaxy, Balotelli had a great chance to score a goal. He was all alone, just several feet in front of the goal keeper and, as if he wasn’t enough, there was even his teammate Edin Dzeko there to help him if needed. And he missed. Ok, that happens even to the best, you’d say. Well, it does, but he seemed to have been begging for it. Look at the video that made even LA Galaxy fans angry. Total disrespect of… well, virtually everything and everybody there

Expectedly, he was substituted within the next minute.

For those of you who are not very familiar with soccer, Kiev is not a team that can expect to beat Manchester City, even more so when it is a matter of passing to the next stage of a European competition or finishing your season. Well, this happened in 2011 when Manchester City, much to the dismay of their fans lost 2 – 1 on aggregate against Kiev in the Euro League. The Ukrainian team fought respectably well and Balotelli left his teammates stranded since he was sent off. Why? Well, during the game, he thought he might try a bit of a ninja move and ended up fouling a Kiev player Goran Popov with a move more suitable for American Wrestling – only it was real. Have a look at it in the video below.

His happy-go-lucky style transfers to all aspects of life. Parking rules in England, for example. Or, as Mario would say ‘what parking rules?’ Apparently, while playing in the Manchester City, a team we feel sorry for now, he parked just about anywhere, thus reaching the parking fine of more than $10,000. Additionally, his beautiful white Maserati was impounded exactly 27 times.

We have already mentioned that he played for both Inter and AC Milan and that the two teams are archrivals. The fans of Inter got terribly offended several times, but his most outrageous move was appearing on a TV show in Italy in an AC Milan shirt. – while he was still playing for Inter. Why would anyone think it is a good idea to do that?

Obviously, money is not problem for the young star. He uses it for, among other things, renting housing. Wonderful, exotic and lavish mansion housing. With stylistically landscaped garden which Mario thought would look a lot better if it would be turned into a quad bike race track. Nice move.

Mario Balotelli Jose Mourinho Red Card

Even though the several times mentioned Roberto Mancini had terrible problems with Balotelli, other managers weren’t luckier, one of them being even Jose Mourinho, the Portuguese master of tactics. Here is a gem he decided to share with the world.

“I remember one time when we went to play Kazan in the Champions League. In that match I had all my strikers injured. No Diego Milito, no Samuel Eto’o, I was really in trouble and Mario was the only one.

“Mario got a yellow card in the 42nd minute, so when I got to the dressing room at half-time I spend about 14 minutes of the 15 available speaking only to Mario.

“I said to him: ‘Mario, I cannot change you, I have no strikers on the bench, so don’t touch anybody and play only with the ball. If we lose the ball no reaction. If someone provokes you, no reaction, if the referee makes a mistake, no reaction.’

“The 46th minute – red card!”

So why is he still getting hired? He is just that good a player.

10 things you didn’t know about Cristiano Ronaldo!

                            CHRISIANO RONA

Best scorer in the history of Real Madrid and holder of multiple records, we believe that we know all about Cristiano Ronaldo, yet the man with 3000 abs per day has his little secrets.

Here are 10 things you may not be aware of:

Cristiano was named “Ronaldo” in tribute to President Ronald Reagan

The triple Ballon d’Or holder is born as Cristiano Dos Santos Aveiro, but we know him today as Cristiano Ronaldo. The explanation is simple, CR7’s dad was a big fan of former President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, and so he decided to give this name to his son, which became “Ronaldo” in Portuguese version. Should we call him Mister President?

CR7 could have signed for Liverpool…

Before joining Manchester United in the summer of 2003, Cristiano Ronaldo could have signed for another red shirt, the one of Liverpool. A transfer that eventually did not take place because of the pay scale implementation with the Reds, as the former technician Gérard Houllier explained to the Daily Mail.

“I noticed him at the Festival of Toulon. So we went to see him, but we had a wage scale that prevented us from proposing the kind of salary he wanted. Then Manchester United played against Sporting and all the players told Sir Alex Ferguson that he had to sign him. I agreed not to challenge the wage system because it could have caused problems in the dressing room. I realized that some recruits were not as performant as we were expecting them to be. Maybe we would have won the title with Ronaldo, but we had Harry Kewell who was also performing well at that time. ”

2. … And Arsenal.

Liverpool was not the only club fighting to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, who was playing with Sporting Lisbon back then. Arsenal almost signed him in 2003, but this time, the problem was not financial, it was United that managed to seduce the Portuguese. A failure that the Gunners manager was explaining to ITV4.

“He (Ronaldo) was very close to coming here. He had an Arsenal jersey with Ronaldo with the number nine on the back. What happened is that Carlos Queiroz went to Manchester United and they stole him from us because he knew the Sporting. Well, that’s life. You do your best but sometimes people are stronger than you. ”

Ronaldo did not want the number 7 in Manchester

He is known for his initials CR7, that have become a real brand, but Cristiano could have been named CR28 … A fact that is not very impressive, but was quite plausible as the Portuguese wanted to take the number 28 at United. Ronaldo wanted to avoid the pressure that represented the legendary number 7 in Manchester, worn by George Best, Eric Cantona and David Beckham. A little scared, Cristiano? Sir Alex Ferguson himself made his recruit accept the number 7 because he trusted his skills. This was done on purpose to make him work hard to honor this symbolic number as well. That’s what you call perfect coaching!

Cristiano Ronaldo is an avid poker player

Various rumors over the years made reference to the strong tastes of Cristiano Ronaldo for online poker tournaments. A fact that can be verified since the player has become one of the faces of the great poker website PokerStars.

CR7 almost won the title of Best Young player in the 2006 World Cup

The goal machine has a lot of collective and individual awards but here’s one that escaped him. Cristiano Ronaldo had accomplished at the age of 21 years a great competition and had managed to score a goal in the semifinals of the 2006 World Cup.

If the votes were in his favor, his involvement in the famous red card for Wayne Rooney during England-Portugal cost him the price. It is finally Lukas Podolski who inherited the precious title, while the CR7 was not even second in the rankings. So unfair!

His mother pushed his departure to Real Madrid

Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro Cristiano aka Mom, is a big fan of Real Madrid. And nothing more logical for Maria to see her son take the mythical white tunic and trample the lawn of the Santiago Bernabéu all weekend. The other reason why Ronaldo is on the side of the Spanish capital was to allow him to be closer to his native Portugal. Manchester and England are too far for Cristiano’s mom. What we wouldn’t we do for our mothers?

CR7 broke the attendance record during his presentation at Real Madrid

Whether you’re a Real fan or not, it is impossible to forget the extraordinary scene during the presentation of Cristiano Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabéu July 6th 2009. A date that will forever be marked in the memory of the Portuguese player, since he gathered alone over 80 000 people in Madrid. A broken record for the presentation of a player, and what better way to pump up his ego? The previous holder of the record was none other than Mr. Diego Armando Maradona. The Argentinean was greeted by about 75 000 supporters of Napoli in 1984.

He won the first Puskas trophy

Cristiano Ronaldo can brag about being the first winner of the famous Puskas award, rewarding the best goal of the year. This trophy in honor of the Real Madrid legend Ferenc Puskas was established in October 2009. CR7 has won the first prize for his monumental goal with Manchester United during the semifinals of the Champions League against FC Porto. With 17.68% of votes, ahead of Iniesta (Barcelona) and Grafite (Wolfsburg), Ronaldo hit hard!

No tattoos, no alcohol, no cigarettes

Cristiano Ronaldo is extremely professional and does not smoke and does not drink alcohol! The explanation for his repugnance towards alcohol is linked to the tragic death of his father who was an alcoholic. Regarding the absence of tattoos and his repugnance towards smoking it is explained by his blood donations. Indeed, the Portuguese avoids all this so that he is able to give blood regularly. Such a caring man!

Ronaldo, a charitable man!

And yes, despite his selfish image, Cristiano Ronaldo wears his heart on his sleeve ! In addition to regular blood donations, the former star of Manchester does not hesitate to give his own money to help his neighbors. In 2009, CR7 donated £ 100,000 to a hospital where his mother was treated. In 2012, he paid the treatment of a young boy with terminal cancer. While in 2014, the Portuguese paid £ 50,000 of surgery costs for a child and even to cut his hair in a “zig zag” in reference to the scar of this young boy. Finally, Cristiano is an ambassador for “Save The Children” association. What a great man…

Bonus: Cristiano Jr’s mother identity

This is one of the best kept secrets of Cristiano Ronaldo. It is still impossible to knowthe identity of the mother of Cistiano Jr, born on 17th of June 2010.

Some speak of a surrogate mother, others talk about an affair with a waitress, but Cristiano Ronaldo keeps everything secret. We simply know that the little 5 year old was born in the United States, and her mother is Portuguese as stated by Ronaldo. Secrecy is such as Cristiano Junior does not know the identity of his own mother.
